GPS system, charging for your phone/camera, mounting points

The Accessories

I tried out a few standalone car GPS systems, but I quickly realised that waterproofing would be a big problem. So, I went with a proper motorcycle standalone GPS system (Tomtom 550) because I’m concerned that Thailand’s network might not be fast enough or that I might be in the mountains with poor internet. I also put up a few mounting points for my Insta360, but I end up not using them. I wish I had fixed a phone charger and thought a power bank would work, but I was wrong. A charging system is definitely a must for your motorcycle.

Key Takeaways

I spent a lot of money on car GPS, so I’d suggest you don’t follow my example. Instead, get a good GPS system and stick with it, whether it’s carplay or a standalone unit ike TOMTOM 550, at the same time, a charging system for your bike is a must. Wireless charging is even better, so you don’t have to worry about wires while you’re riding. Try to limit the mounting points to one or two. The main thing you’ll be thinking about on the road is food and drink and finding the right exits. As for the charger, my iPhone battery went from 100 per cent to 20 per cent because of the heat, plus I was taking heaps of photos and videos. The power bank doesn’t charge quickly enough, because sometimes I have to rely on the phone’s GPS system because TomTom maps is outdated in some places.
